Honored to receive the GVSU 2025 Service to Community Award

GVSU 2025 Service to Community Award

I am incredibly honored to receive Grand Valley State University's 2025 Service to Community Award in recognition of my commitment to mentorship, education, and community impact.

This recognition represents more than an award. It reflects my passion for serving others, creating opportunities for young people, and making a difference beyond the walls of the GVSU TRIO Upward Bound Detroit program.

Through my work with GVSU's TRIO Upward Bound Detroit program, I have remained committed to empowering students, building meaningful community partnerships, and helping young people see possibilities beyond their circumstances. One of the most meaningful accomplishments highlighted in this recognition was helping 11 Detroit high school students obtain passports and participate in an international experience abroad with TRIO—a first in the program's history.

I believe service is not simply what we do; it is the difference we make in the lives of others. I am grateful to Grand Valley State University, my colleagues, community partners, and everyone who continues to be part of this journey.
